May 29, 2010; Source: Associated Press | In New Jersey, the 14th state to allow the sale and use of medical marijuana, the brand new field of nonprofit pot dispensaries are attracting all types including the corporate refugee looking for a new career. Marianne Bays, 57, has spent a lifetime in corporate consulting and now runs the census office in Newark but she has her eye on the founding of a local “alternative treatment” center. Though there will only be six such nonprofit establishments authorized as the effort starts up, she says there are many others examining the possibilities including, she reports, refugees from the real estate melt-down.—Ruth McCambridge
