March 23, 2011; Source: ABC News | Yesterday we wrote here in the Newswire about the controversial new iPhone app created by a group who sees itself as a "refuge for people looking for help in their journey out of homosexuality." A petition was launched shortly after on Change.org. Now over 150,000 people have signed on, according to ABC News.

Yesterday afternoon we learned that Apple has removed the anti-gay iPhone app from its App Store. Score one for Truth Wins Out, the nonprofit that started the petition, and Change.org, which managed the online signatures.

This is not the first "anti-gay" app to cause a flap in Apple's iTunes store though, according to ABC News. In November, Apple pulled another app after just 7,000 people signed an online petition at Change.org.

That application, called Manhattan Declaration, was a "call of Christian Conscience" that advocated "the sanctity of life, the dignity of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and religious liberty," according to its website.—Aaron Lester
