September 13, 2011; Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution | Angered by the fact that no high ranking Roman Catholic officials have been prosecuted for sheltering priests accused of sexual abuse, the Survivor’s Network of Those Abused by Priests will work with the Center for Constitutional Rights to appeal to the International Criminal Court for an investigation. The organization alleges that that the church has maintained a “long-standing and pervasive system of sexual violence” and accuses Vatican officials of creating policies that perpetuated the damage, constituting an attack against a civilian population.—Ruth McCambridge
