November 28, 2011; Source: New Jersey Today | Rolling out what must be an inconceivably welcome program, BedBug Central has announced that it will coordinate with pest control companies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to offer free bed bug removal for families in need over the first three weeks of December. BedbugCentral sees the program, titled “Taking a Bite out of the Holidays,” as a way for such companies to give back to the communities they service.

BedBug Central is an information resource developed by entomologists to inform the public about bed bugs.

The program is the brainchild of well-known research entomologist Jeffrey White, who has been worried about the rising cost of bed bug treatments.

“Bed bugs can be very expensive to eliminate, and with the effects of this economy, we knew we had to give back,” said White. “We understand the importance of giving back and we wanted to continue the tradition and provide some relief to those in need. Ultimately, an individual’s money should be spent on creating a happier holiday season, not dealing with the frustration of bed bugs.”

NPQ cannot think of a better holiday gift for those needing this service. We hope the effort is replicated like crazy. Applications for candidates seeking bed bug assistance are currently being accepted. For more information or to apply, visit BedBug Central.—Ruth McCambridge
