Don’t confuse our positive commentary about Udaltsov’s standing up to the Putin regime as an endorsement of his politics. Udaltsov’s position, although seen as far left in Russian politics, is to re-inject some social democracy back into Russian politics and to push for more direct democracy, including through the use of social media. So our admiration of Udaltsov isn’t a political endorsement–NPQ is nonpartisan, even when it comes to Russian politics–but recognition of the courage of his beliefs and his and his movement’s use of social media to communicate in real time what was happening to his free speech rights.
