I love the line from the poem by Robert Burns, entitled “To a Louse”…

“0 would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.”

It can, at times, be painful but taking a guided tour of ourselves through the eyes of those around us does give us a rare gift in that it allows us, if we like, to reorganize ourselves to be more effective. Conversely, not having that information or not knowing its import can stymie our own work and that of our organizations.

That is why we are passing along this article, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of 360 Degree Evaluations” from the Summer 2011 edition of the magazine. We decided to do so after we saw a Twitter flurry about the piece yesterday.

We figure our readers know best about what everyone needs, and so we decided to send it out to all of you FREE and in return we would love to hear your own experiences with participatory evaluations or evaluations in general; you can put them in the comments section at the end of the article. And speaking of our readers knowing best, I would like to invite you to consider submitting an article to our “Voices from the Field” series. This series allows our readers to share reflections and lessons from their own work.
