Shelly Tygielski is the founder of the global, grassroots mutual aid organization Pandemic of Love, soon to be the subject of a TV series, All Hands on Deck. A CNN Hero, Tygielski is working on the docuseries The Beat Goes On, about the Martin Luther King family, airing January 2025. A trauma-informed mindfulness teacher and Garrison Institute Fellow, Tygielski is currently pursuing a doctorate in philanthropic leadership from Indiana University. Her latest book, coauthored with Justin Michael Williams, How We Ended Racism: Realizing a New Possibility in One Generation (Sounds True, 2023), was born out of a science-based curriculum.
