Tonie Marie Gordon

Tonie Marie Gordon is the former Health Justice Senior Editor. She brings over a decade of experience in applied research and expertise in health, science, and tech policy to NPQ. Before joining NPQ, she led research initiatives for government agencies including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the National Science Foundation. She also worked for a healthcare payer where she helped create products, programs, and partnerships that advance health innovation. She earned both her doctorate and master’s degree in sociology from the University of Virginia. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in professional writing and editing from Youngstown State University where she minored in sociology, anthropology, and gerontology. As a multidisciplinary sociologist, her work bridges the social and humanistic sciences with the natural sciences and the humanities. As a writer, researcher, and speaker, she focuses on the intersections of health, technology, science, and societal inequalities.
