Anonymous Donor of $100,000 Says He Doesn’t Need It to Live

A plain white envelope with a typewritten note arrived at the Palm Beach Post’s annual holiday campaign with instructions for the enclosed $100,000 to go to “those who need it the most.”

The donor is not even a resident of the county but simply an avid reader of the news, and he had been moved by the stories of 14 families in need published by the paper.

“I’m old and I really don’t need it to live,” the donor said. “I figured it could do somebody some good.”—Ruth McCambridge
