May 18, 2011; Source: The Seattle Times | This letter to the editor in The Seattle Times reports that a bunch of atheists in Seattle threw a “rapture party” on May 21 – a fundraiser for “rapture relief” if indeed a rapture were to occur. In the event of a misfire the money was to be donated to Camp Quest where children are exposed to critical and scientific thinking.

Sounds fun.

The author of the letter says that this indicates that, “Godless heathens may indeed have souls.”

In late breaking news, we hear that Mr. Camping is now acknowledging that he may have gotten the date wrong on the Rapture – it has now been rescheduled for October so we do not know if that will delay release of the funds to Camp Quest.—Ruth McCambridge
