As NPQ noted yesterday, today Occupy Wall Street re-emerges with a call for a May Day general strike. May Day is, of course, the day on which international observations of the rights of workers occur. Activity is expected in more than 125 U.S. cities today. Occupy Wall Street is asking people to join them today—if not in an action, then by not working, shopping, going to school or banking. A fairly comprehensive list of city-by-city Occupy events is available from Occupy Wall Street here. NPQ would like to acknowledge the May Day tradition today. –Ruth McCambridge
