March 31, 2010; Seattlepi.com | The collapse of a corporate sponsor for a local nonprofit will deprive Seattle of its July 4 fireworks show this year. According to the Seattlepi.com, One Reel, a nonprofit that was planning this event, said it spent the past 15 months looking for a sponsor to replace the now defunct Washington Mutual. Chase, which acquired the bank in 2008, only agreed to sponsor the show for another year.  While this year’s show is a washout, One Reel board member Tomoko Moriguchi Matsuno is hopeful the group will find a group willing to help it bring the community together while it lights up the skies in 2011.—Bruce Trachtenberg
