Recession Fueling Nonprofit Mergers?

What a difference a recession makes. Two years ago, a  management consultant to nonprofits said that 5 percent of her firm's business was devoted to helping clients explore mergers or other kinds of combinations to help them fare better financially. Today, she says that work takes up about 30 percent of her business.

Horse Shelters Feeling Recession’s Pinch

The continuing recession is having a nagging effect on yet another part of the nonprofit sector. The Denver Post reports that horse shelters are receiving an increasing number of calls from people who can no longer care for their animals, while at the same time adoptions and donations are both dropping.
