May 5, 2010; Source: Kennebec Journal | Finally! The day after the Washington, D.C. Council approved a medical marijuana measure (which still requires the mayor’s approval) the Department of Health and Human Services in Maine announced it has set up rules for selecting nonprofit pot dispensaries under Maine’s Medical Use of Marijuana Act. I, for one, want to welcome this new nonprofit field into our communities. It’s well past time and major kudos to the advocates who have continued to push at this issue for many decades.—Ruth McCambridge
