November 15, 2010; Source: Los Angeles Times | Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, may be ready to step down from the presidency of Liberty Central, the Tea Party group she founded last year. This report comes in the wake of charges that her position at Liberty Central may conflict with her husband’s role as a nonpartisan jurist. Liberty Central has refused to release the names of its key donors at the same time that Justice Thomas became the lone justice to argue that the laws requiring public disclosure of large political contributions are unconstitutional. Of course, there was also the issue of that odd recent call to Anita Hill.—Ruth McCambridge
