Here we explore the theory and practice of building a democratic economy, with a focus on the solidarity economy—an economy that is rooted in solidarity, cooperation, and mutualism; equity in all dimensions (e.g., race, ethnicity, nationality, class, and gender); participatory democracy; sustainability; and pluralism. 

In all of this, the need for vision and imagination is clear. This includes being aware of our history and building on notions of mutualism and on Indigenous values and traditions.
