Alison Stine

Dr. Alison Stine is a Senior Editor, with over 12 years of experience in journalism and media. Alison covers stories on Climate, Health, Disability, Caregiving, Arts, and Education. She’s always looking for pitches on community, on the work and power of young people, and on the intersection between the arts and justice. Alison began her career in academia before turning to writing full-time. She joined the staff of NPQ in 2023. Alison holds a PhD from Ohio University, an MFA from the University of Maryland, and was a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University. Formerly the staff culture writer at Salon, she has also been a freelance reporter with The New York Times. She is the author of seven books of poetry and fiction, most recently the novel DUST from St. Martin’s Press/Wednesday Books.
