Karla Monterroso

Karla Monterroso is the Founder and Managing Partner of Brava Leaders, where she builds tools and coalitions supporting the effective use of power for leaders of multiracial and multicultural institutions across sectors. A strategic coach and advisor with over 20 years of experience in rapidly scaling social enterprises, she advocates for multiracial institution-building as essential to a functional democracy. As former CEO of Code2040, she grew their community from 25 to 3,000 people, dismantling structural barriers in tech. Previously, she drove tech infrastructure and volunteer expansion at Health Leads and College Summit, creating systems supporting underinvested communities. Currently, Karla examines power dynamics in multicultural institutions while working on her first book "When We Get Power". A Long Covid survivor and contributor to "The Long Covid Survival Guide," she serves on the board of One Degree. Karla holds a degree from the University of Southern California.
