Social Media & Video Content Manager (Remote)

Job Title: Social Media & Video Content Manager
Location: Full-Time, Remote

Drive Engagement. Tell Stories That Matter. Build Community.

Are you a creative storyteller who knows how to turn thoughtful journalism into high-performing social content? Do you understand how to grow engagement without sacrificing nuance, credibility, or mission alignment?

NPQ is looking for a Social Media & Video Content Manager to execute compelling social strategy, produce engaging video content, and strengthen how we connect with nonprofit leaders, funders, and movement practitioners. This role is hands-on and performance-driven — focused on delivering strong content, building community, and driving qualified traffic that supports NPQ’s broader mission and revenue goals.

If you’re strategic, collaborative, and passionate about storytelling that advances equity and social change, we want to hear from you.

About NPQ

Since its founding in 1999, Nonprofit Quarterly (NPQ) has been the trusted source of insight, analysis, and field-driven knowledge for the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, and social movements. With roots as a print journal, NPQ has evolved into a dynamic digital platform that uplifts equity-centered leadership, community wisdom, and systemic change. Grounded in the values of human rights, racial, and economic justice, and thriving communities, NPQ advances critical conversations and nonprofit leadership practices that shape civil society.

NPQ brings together practitioners, researchers, and movement leaders—centering their voices to inform practice, challenge dominant narratives, and support transformative action. At its core, NPQ is both a convener and a catalyst, committed to building an active democracy through informed and engaged nonprofit practice.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute Social Strategy: Implement NPQ’s social media strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, BlueSky, TikTok, and Facebook, ensuring content aligns with editorial priorities and organizational goals.
  • Create Compelling Video Content: Produce and edit short-form and long-form video content optimized for social platforms, ensuring high production quality, accessibility, and engagement.
  • Grow and Engage Our Audience: Drive measurable engagement and follower growth while cultivating meaningful dialogue within nonprofit and philanthropy communities.
  • Drive Qualified Traffic: Generate and optimize traffic from social channels to NPQ content, email sign-ups, and membership pathways, supporting broader funnel and revenue goals.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with editorial and revenue teams to align campaigns, amplify key initiatives, and strengthen the social-to-email pipeline.
  • Track and Optimize Performance: Monitor engagement, reach, traffic, and platform analytics; use data to refine content strategy and improve results.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven Social Media Expertise: 3–5 years of experience executing social media strategy, managing content calendars, and driving engagement across multiple platforms.
  • Strong Video Production Skills: Demonstrated experience producing and editing engaging video content for digital audiences.
  • Sector Literacy: Solid understanding of nonprofit, philanthropy, and/or social justice sectors, with the ability to write authentically for these audiences.
  • Data-Informed Mindset: Experience using analytics and performance metrics to refine content strategy and drive measurable results.
  • Collaborative Approach: Ability to work cross-functionally and respond quickly to timely content opportunities.

Our Ideal Candidate

You are a creative and execution-focused social media professional who understands how to grow engagement while maintaining credibility and mission alignment. You are equally comfortable producing video content, managing community dialogue, and analyzing performance metrics. You bring strong sector literacy, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for storytelling that advances equity and social impact.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $59,600 – $89,400 per year. We are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation that reflects each team member’s contributions, experience, and expertise. Final compensation will be based on qualifications, skills, and experience.

We provide a generous benefits package designed to support both your personal and professional well-being. Our offerings include unlimited flexible time off, holidays, paid parental leave, a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer contribution, comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as annual learning and development opportunities to support your growth. We believe in fostering a balanced, supportive work environment where our team can thrive.

A Note to Candidates

Our job description is a wish list, and we do not expect every candidate to be skilled equally in all these areas. Studies show that historically disenfranchised communities, such as women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ people, are less likely to apply if they don’t meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to being an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible workplace that fosters true belonging. If your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, please still apply. We’d also love to hear about experiences or expertise that you think is relevant but isn’t listed here.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We recognize that diverse teams make the strongest teams. NPQ is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We strongly encourage candidates from historically marginalized communities to apply.

Equal Opportunity Employer

NPQ is committed to creating a diverse work environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. NPQ does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, genetics, parental status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected status under federal, state or local laws. We encourage individuals of all backgrounds to apply. If you are a qualified candidate with a disability, please e-mail us at hr@npqmag.org if you require reasonable accommodation to complete this application.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you’re ready to join a dynamic team and contribute to a mission that matters, we encourage you to apply here by Friday, March 6, 2026 and 5pm PST.
