FRIEND: I just wish she would acknowledge her wealth a bit more—yes, you’re Latina, but you’re also very, very rich.

SAPHIA: What would that look like?

FRIEND: What do you mean?

SAPHIA: Well, why do you want her to acknowledge her privilege more? What would that look like to you?

FRIEND: I don’t know, I just feel like she’s using her Latinidad as a cover for her wealth—why, are you friends with her or something?

SAPHIA: No, I don’t really connect with her like that.

FRIEND: Because it sounds like you’re defending her a little bit.

SAPHIA: No, I’m genuinely curious—what would it look like for someone to acknowledge their privilege in a satisfying way? Because I don’t think I know what that looks like, do you?
