The New Asian Diaspora Media: Defending Democracy Locally and Globally

In partnership with Kavitha Rajagopalan, Asian Media Initiative Director at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism (City University of New York), this series will look at the complicated roles played by Asian immigrant media in the United States—seeking to address the threat of deportation while also serving the day-to-day information needs of immigrant communities. In the articles of this series, writers from Asian community news outlets will explore business model challenges, the need to confront repression both in the United States and from the long arm of home country governments, and the challenges of misinformation and disinformation.
