Alex Wallach Hanson has been with Pittsburgh United since 2015, and a community and political field organizer for over a dozen years. Originally from Boston, Alex got his start organizing on a youth-led campaign for free transit and then moved to Pittsburgh in 2014. During his time at Pittsburgh United, Alex has led numerous campaigns across Western and Central PA, passing a paid sick day ordinance for 40,000 workers, winning a $10 million per year affordable housing fund, and helping lead fights ranging from the Fight for $15 to worker and mobile home tenant union drives and public housing decarbonization. Alex and Pittsburgh United are currently on the cusp of passing a Paid Parental Leave mandate in Allegheny County, which will be the first county-level law in the country.
