For too long, the South has been a battleground for exploitative labor policies and poor working conditions, disproportionately affecting Black and other workers of color. In this series—a co-production of NPQ and the LIFT Fund—authors share how, despite the South’s anti-labor climate, workers are finding unique ways to organize and succeed. Writers in this series highlight successful organizing models and show how they work, identify some ways the labor movement can learn from the South, and make the case for why philanthropy should support similar efforts with increased resources.
