March 22, 2010; Zimbio | NBC may have sent former television talk show host Conan O’Brien packing, but the network isn’t giving on the star’s wish to do good for charity. According to reports in the television trades, O’Brien’s former employer won’t let him appear on a special charity edition of American Idol scheduled for late April. In the past, the Fox network show has raised millions for charities. However, NBC claims that if O’Brien were to show his face on any competing network before May 1, it would violate an agreement with the star. Still, in true show business style, with or without O’Brien, Fox’s “Idol Gives Back to Charity” will go on April 21.—Bruce Trachtenberg
