Nonprofit Newswire | A Stadium Will Host Rent-Free Nonprofit Events

Ruth McCambridge
October 14, 2010

October 13, 2010; Source: York Daily Record | In York, Penn., the Sovereign Bank Stadium is offering the use of its facility free of charge to local nonprofits and in some cases is even pitching in for marketing expenses and event costs. Among the events planned next year:

  • Crispus Attucks Association of New York will host Wingapalooza, “an event that will incorporate a hot wings and fried chicken festival” with “tastings, a competition, music and fun family activities.”
  • Sons of the American Legion will host Wine in the City, an expansion of the Taste of Pennsylvania Wine and Music Festival, featuring “tastings, live music and other vendors” on a weekend in late August.
  • Bring on Play will host a “BOP-stacle course . . . a new event that will incorporate a large obstacle course for adults and a smaller obstacle course for children”

This adds to the list of properties we are aware of around the country that are offering free space, at least temporarily, to nonprofits.—Ruth McCambridge
