NPQ/YNPN Deadline for Abstracts on Equity, Diversity & Inclusiveness Fast Approaches—Don’t Delay!

You may have heard. Or maybe you even retweeted, liked, favorited, or reblogged…

On August 25th, 2015, NPQ and YNPN jointly issued a call for papers on issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion from nonprofit professionals and activists under 40. More than 2,500 of you have visited the site to read the invitation (an excerpt from which is below) and still more have shared their excitement about the project on social media…but only a fraction of those who are interested have logged in their abstracts.

Let’s change that this weekend.

What the series will cover:

Over the past few years, it has become clear that many young leaders think, analyze, strategize, and act differently than older leaders around issues of equity, diversity and inclusion. Those differences need to be surfaced and understood in personal, organizational and political ways. In fact, our lived experiences are the result not just of our race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, class, age or work status, but the result of the dynamic and sometimes conflicting experiences of the intersection of these identities in our lives and work.

Recognizing that this moment in time is marked by an increased attention to those dynamics and an increased openness to understanding them newly, the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network and the Nonprofit Quarterly are collaborating on a series of articles that explore issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion from the perspectives of younger leaders in communities and organizations.

We hope to create a vibrant, grounded and bold series of articles that helps nonprofit, community and civil society leaders—of all generations—to reflect on their own practices.

Don’t miss this opportunity. The success and promise of this EDI reader depends on the varied voices and the opinions of the authors themselves.

This Labor Day, spend a little time thinking about how your thoughts and experiences might be valuable in advancing (or even just naming) new wisdom and practice and write your abstract! (By the way, we welcome submissions with multiple contributors!)
