March 7, 2011; Source: dcist.com | Maybe Robert Kasmir was feeling empowered after being honored during the halftime break of a George Washington University Colonials’ basketball game against the Dayton (Ohio) Flyers. He had given a five-figure donation to the university's athletic department. Anyway he thought he could tell the refs where to go (loudly) during the second half. Donation or no donation, he was unceremoniously ejected from the game while getting his second and largest ovation of the night from the crowd. From a blog post about the situation comes this play-by-play:
From his sideline seat on the court, Robert Kasmir yelled at the referee over a foul call on sophomore forward David Pellom, prompting his removal from the court by a member of the athletics department. ‘Basically, I told the ref he was the worst ref I’d ever seen and he wasn’t worth the $1,600 dollars they were paying him and that was it,’ Kasmir said. ‘And then he ejected me from the game.’

Kasmir doesn’t hold a grudge against GW but he is still irked at the ref. “I think the University is a great University. It has nothing to do with the University,” he said, also quoted in the blog. “I think the official should never be allowed to officiate another game in the Atlantic 10, in college basketball, in the United States.”—Ruth McCambridge
