February 8, 2011; Source: Mother Nature Network | Lordy, I just can’t keep up. Apparently there is a handy dandy little iPhone app entitled, Confession: A Roman Catholic App, now available that will help the busy Catholic cleanse his or her soul without missing a beat. According to this article from the Mother Nature Network, the app takes users through a step-by-step guide to the Catholic sacrament, including walking them through the 10 Commandments and asking questions like, "Have I been involved with the occult?" or "Have I ever received Communion in a state of mortal sin?"

A bargain at $1.99, this may be very useful for the frequent sinner who, for instance, would rather not chance being hit by a car before taking advantage of this sacrament of penance.

The app apparently was approved by Bishop Kevin Rhoades of the Archdiocese of Fort Wayne, Indiana so it has not actually, we assume, been directly OK’d by the Vatican, but Pope Benedict is on record as saying if used wisely technology can "contribute to the satisfaction of the desire for meaning, truth and unity which remain the most profound aspirations of each human being."

I don’t know, maybe I am either a heathen or just behind the times technologically, but this just strikes me as wrong!—Ruth McCambridge
