June 30, 2011; Source: Times-News | Families USA released a report two days ago that detailed the economic effects of Republican proposed Medicaid cuts on the states. It finds that the impact to business activity and job would be significant. For instance, the report projects that New York could lose as many as 190,000 jobs. The proposal which has been adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives, and was sponsored by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), calls for cuts in federal funding to state Medicaid programs of 5 percent in 2013, 15 percent in 2014, and 33 percent in 2021.
