Of Liberty

Nancey B. Price is a collage artist, storyteller, and writer from rural Georgia whose work explores memory, land, and Black Southern life. Working primarily in analog collage, she creates layered visual narratives that blur the boundaries between the everyday and the extraordinary. Her practice is rooted in storytelling—shaped by folklore, oral histories, and Southern Gothic traditions—and extends into her writing and podcast, Dreaming in Color with Nancey B. Price. Her work has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, Garden & Gun Magazine, and Southern Cultures. Notable commissions include the cover artwork for National Book Award-nominated The Unboxing of a Black Girl by Angela Shanté as well as album artwork for Harlem Renaissance by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. As a facilitator, Nancey has led collage and storytelling workshops with the DEEP Center, Savannah Black Art Expo, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Rhode Island. Her workshops center creativity as a tool for reflection and personal storytelling, inviting participants to explore their inner worlds and bring their stories to life.
