White House Visits from the Nonprofit Sector
On December 30th, the White House released additional names of its visitors through the end of September. Some 26,000 visits are in the latest spreadsheets made available to the public.According to the Sunlight Foundation, approximately 100,000 people visit the White House each month. The numbers don’t match.

Ask “Why.” Ask it More and More
School tests and poor teachers and exhausted parents – the way the world operates – teach us that there’s one “right” answer to just about every question. Questioning gets short shrift the older we get. Too often, questioning is seen as threatening or disloyal. My advice to you: Ask why. Ask it more and more.

The year 2009 has been an extraordinary one for nonprofits. But how has the press covered our sector over these turbulent 12 months? As you likely know already, NPQ has been following the news through its Nonprofit Newswire and what we at the Nonprofit Quarterly have found in the course of that is something of a split between national and local topics. Below we will look at what we see as being some of the themes nationally and what they were more likely to have been on a local level.
