To put the onus of reengaging these youths on the society that left them behind, rather than on their overburdened backs, marks a significant shift (or at least a helpful push) in the right direction, and we’re pleased to see it.

House Tax Bill Threatens Key Community Development Tools

The House tax bill vitiates our nation’s already weak community economic development backbone, reducing access to affordable housing as well as the ability of nonprofits to support commercial development or finance infrastructure. The “savings” from the proposed cuts barely exceeds $5 billion a year—a drop in the bucket, given the bill’s overall $1.5-trillion price tag.
