    A number of years ago Nonprofit Quarterly published a map of the nonprofit landscape including those sectors which were considered part of the nonprofit infrastructure… organizations like public policy and research shops, professional associations, and others. If I remember, one of the points in that series of articles was how difficult it was to fund the infrastructure of the sector without institutional funders willing to step up and provide continuous funding. It also wasn’t clear from the article whether the University of New Hampshire’s center was doing essentially the same research? It is very hard for small organizations to compete with the fund raising capacity of universities. Gayle L. Gifford
